Meet Dan Keen
My name is Dan Keen. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Aledo, Texas. I was introduced to dentistry when I was five years old. My father was a foreman on a ranch owned by a dentist and my mother worked as a dental assistant for many years in Weatherford, Texas.
The summer before my high school graduation, I began my career as a delivery driver for a Fort Worth removeable dental laboratory. Upon graduation, I began working full time in that lab.
In 1967, I was fortunate enough to meet my wife, Janice. We fell in love and married in November of that year. Our daughter was born in 1971 followed by our son in 1974. If it had not been for the support of my wife, I never could have succeeded in building my own laboratory. Janice took on the challenging task of running the household and raising our two children. She had a difficult job, I had it easy. We lived in Arlington for about 25 years. Our children both graduated from Lamar High School. Stephanie married a great guy named Scott and they are both teachers in the Arlington ISD. In January 2000, they blessed the world with our first grandson, Scotty. Our son Shawn lives in Fort Worth and is the office manager for DLK Dental Restorations.
In 1997 we decided to move to the country and build our dream house. We now live between Fort Worth and Weatherford and really enjoy life outside the stress of the big city.
Dental technology is the only profession I've ever known. I was employed at two laboratories before the latter was bought out by a large corporation. After a couple of years with that organization, I decided there had to be a better way. So, in December of 1977, I opened DLK Dental Restorations. It has been, at times, a difficult but rewarding experience. Twenty-five years later, I am proud of what we have accomplished and plan to continue to improve as we move forward through the new century.
